Bedale is the eastern Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales for visitors and tourists; just a few miles from A1M motorway at junction 51. There are many places to visit within easy reach of Bedale, making the town an excellent base from which to explore the Dales.

This excellent volunteer run centre is open from Easter to late October 10 to 4pm Monday to Friday and 9 to 2pm on Saturdays. From November to mid December and mid February to Easter 10 to 4pm Tuesdays and 10 to 2pm on Saturdays.

Wensleydale Railway runs trains between Leeming Bar (near the A1M/A684 jct) and Redmire (on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park), via Bedale and Leyburn. Let the train take the strain, park at Leeming Bar.
